Project History and Portfolio

The Senna House Scottsdale hotel, a Curio Collection by Hilton was opened in December of 2021 in the heart of the Scottsdale entertainment district. The project represents one of Arizona’s first Opportunity Zone developments and was the latest lifestyle boutique hotel to open in nearly 13 years since the development of the W Scottsdale hotel.  The developer led the acquisition, entitlement, design, capitalization, development, and opening of the property. The Senna House is a 169-key urban hotel with associated food and beverage and fitness facilities. 

Located in the heart of downtown Tucson adjacent to the Tucson Convention Center and Fox Theatre, the Leo Kent was an adaptive re-use of Tucson’s most iconic office building. The Marriott Tribute branded property consists of 145-keys, food and beverage outlets, a classically designed function hall/library, fitness and grab and go market. The hotel is the first upper upscale lifestyle soft banded hotel to be developed in the market. The developer led the project entitlements, GPLET approvals, design, capitalization, development, and asset management of the project.

Thompson Reserve is a 103-unit built-to-rent (BTR) community in Queen Creek/San Tan, Arizona. The project is a diversified luxury residential product that consists of two-story and one-story units that are both detached and attached. The project amenity offering provides a luxury resort lifestyle for residents’ including fitness facilities, pickle ball, resort style pool, BBQ pavilion/outdoor dining areas, dog park, open space, and state-of -the art technology throughout the project. Upon completion, Thompson Reserve will deliver into the upper echelon for luxury residential rental living in the southeast Valley of the Sun. 

Montage Healdsburg is a 130-key ultra luxury situated in the rolling hills of the northern Sonoma wine country. From 2014-2018 during tenure with TRGC the developer led the reconceptualization, planning and recapitalization of the project.  The ultra-luxury resort was sold at a record-breaking value for the California market at $265MM in 2021.

During tenure with The Robert Green Company, the developer led the winning RFP submittal and successfully negotiated the acquisition and development agreement with the city of Mountain View. The project included a significant public parking component, and the developer successfully structured special public bond financing and a transit occupancy tax rebate program as part of the deal structure. 

The Pendry San Diego, the first Pendry Hotel by Montage International, was delivered in 2017.  The $145M project consists of a 315-key Luxury Hotel and six food and beverage outlets. The developer led the capitalization, development, pre-opening, and asset management of the hotel during tenure as Vice President of Acquisitions & Development with The Robert Green Company. The project was capitalized through Colony Capital, Ares Management, and a private family office.

The Kimpton Everly Hollywood hotel is a luxury lifestyle property that consists of 216 guest rooms within a 15-story tower on Argyle and Yucca in the heart of the Hollywood hotel district.  In 2017, in partnership with KHP Capital Partners and during tenure with The Robert Green Company, the developer led the final phase of development, opening and initial stabilization period of the asset prior to disposition. The development team executed the entitlements, design, capitalization, construction, and opening of the project.

In 2013, during tenure with The Athens Group, the developer led the acquisition, redesign, and entitlement update of 9040 W Sunset Blvd. Acting as the developer, and in partnership with Marriott International, the team successfully delivered on the strategic investment to expand the Edition brand with Marriott and Ian Schrager. The Project was ultimately acquired, capitalized, and developed by the Witkoff Group for the vertical development of the West Hollywood Edition Hotel and Residences.  The existing property consists of a 140-key luxury hotel and 20 luxury residences. 

During tenure with The Athens Group, the developer successfully led a competitive branding process with Montage International, Four Seasons, Auberge, and St. Regis for the repositing of the former Inn at Palmetto Bluff. The development team executed the reconceptualization, business planning, acquisition, capitalization, rebranding, and expansion of the resort. Once a smaller 50-key luxury hotel, the property was expanded to 200-keys with 40 branded residences.

Montage Deer Valley was delivered in 2010 and consists of 174-keys and 81 residences. Owned by Ohana Real Estate Investors, the resort is recognized as a best-in-class luxury asset situated in the premier global mountain destination at the Deer Valley Resort. During tenure with The Athens Group, the developer contributed to the execution of the final phase of vertical construction, hotel pre-opening, residential sales and marketing efforts, project accounting and financial oversight, and ongoing asset management post opening, including the re-conception of the resort’s food and beverage outlets.

From 2010 through 2015 during tenure with The Athens Group, the developer executed the predevelopment and entitlement phase of the project, including the coordination of design and entitlement consultants, implementation of the entitlement strategy, project programming and scenario analysis, general business planning, financial analysis, and general execution of the predevelopment and entitlement phase of the project. The revitalization and redevelopment of the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows is a development partnership with MSD Capital, and the iconic project has yet to commence the redevelopment phase.

Since 2023, the My Place Tucson hotel has delivered upper midscale extended-stay accommodations. The hotel is part of a larger mixed-use retail commercial center featuring a modern tenant mix of retailers and restaurants. This unique configuration allows guests to enjoy convenient access to a diverse selection of dining options, shopping venues, and entertainment experiences.  

In 2022, Opwest acquired a portion of the Cortaro Ranch commercial center from Thompson Thrift. This Tuscon location is strategic for business and leisure travelers alike, and will deliver th newest modern accommodations soon in 2024.
